4 Ways to Detox from Pollution

How to Detox From Pollution

#1

Keep air filtering plants and/or a heavy duty air purifier in your home and office to clean your environment. Just 3-4 air filtering plants are enough to clean your bedroom, and there are a range of common indoor plants that require little to no maintenance while beautifying your home at the same time. Money plants, aloe vera, spider plants, snake plants, and areca palms are just a few of the most effective air cleansing plants. It’s a win-win and you can’t go wrong with these, especially in the polluted winter season.

#2

Practice adding cleansing herbs like fresh, raw ginger, lime and mint to your regular bottle of water. Make coconut water a practice by having 1-2 fresh coconuts a day. And last but not least, incorporate cucumber juice into your routine: cucumbers are extremely hydrating and there’s nothing quite like it!

Protect your body from the free radicals in the toxic substances: load up on as many antioxidants as possible! Antioxidants occur in the most concentration in bright colored fruits and vegetables. Think: dark leafy greens such as kale and lettuce, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, red cabbage, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Dark chocolate is another excellent source of antioxidants.

Activated charcoal is a must! Activated charcoal is an ancient remedy that is used to clear out any toxic elements from the system. It is taken for a general detox, to aid digestive health, for gas, bloating and intestinal disorders, food poisoning, and to aid the body’s response in combating toxic mold. It works by capturing and binding to the toxic substance, removing poisons and heavy metals from the system. It also boasts a range of health benefits, slowing down aging, protecting the cardiovascular system, healing the body. The way it works is charcoal is activated at very high temperatures, making it extremely porous with a high surface area. Its negative electric charge attracts positive charged unwanted toxins and gas, and it is thus able to bind to and remove these elements. Take activated charcoal any time you’ve eaten out at a bad restaurant, drank alcohol, had bad quality coffee, you’re feeling tired, spacy or moody, or you’re traveling for long distances.
